DESCRIPTION:Moreland Rotary will host their 6th LIFT THE LID WALK for Menta
 l Health on Sunday October 11\, 2026.  The "Walk and Talk" is a mental he
 alth awareness and fundraising event for Australian Rotary Health\, one of
  the largest non-Government funders of mental health research in Australia
 .  Each year Australian Rotary Health provides between 2-3 million dollar
 s for research\, education and programs thanks to Rotary clubs and events 
 such as this.  Australian Rotary Health will be the sole financial benefi
 ciary of this event.   Moreland Rotary is excited to have the support of
  the Rotary clubs of Pascoe Vale and Coburg this year.  Our event will be
 come the Merri-bek LIFT THE LID WALK for Mental Health\, resulting in a gr
 eater community reach and participation. The event will be held during Men
 tal Health Week on Sunday October 11\, 2026. It begins at Coburg Lake\, wi
 th a 4 or 8 km walk along the Merri Creek\, followed by a Rotary BBQ.  It
  is deliberately not a race\, but a Walk and Talk event\; an opportunity t
 o bring people together and raise awareness of the serious mental health i
 ssues we face in all areas of our communities\, schools\, workplaces\, spo
 rting clubs and families.  With 1 in 5 Australians experiencing a mental 
 health episode each year\, 9 people taking their own lives each day\, and 
 with suicide being the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15-44\,
  we need to break down the barriers around mental illness.
