Rotarians Against Malaria - RAM

Kids in our part of the world are dying from Malaria.

Malaria is a preventable disease. It has been eradicated in many parts of the world but over 2 billion people live at risk of being bitten by an infected mosquito and over 2 million, mainly children, die every year.

Africa is at the heart of the Malaria scourge, but some of Australia’s nearest neighbours are still being impacted every day.

RAM was formed in 1990 to focus Rotary effort and funding towards eradicating Malaria in The Solomons, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea and East Timor. Through RAM, Rotarians in Australia and New Zealand have brought their energy, their networks and their generosity to attack the issue.

RAM works with national governments, the World Health Organisation, local Rotary clubs and, increasingly, global funders such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to apply a science-based community approach to eradicating Malaria.

It’s not easy. It’s not simple or straightforward and it won’t happen overnight, but it can be done. It is being done.
